PowerHouse Data Centers and Poe Companies, the same team behind the Camp Ground Road project in Louisville, announced plans in July 2026 for a 9.6 billion dollar data center called the Carrollton Industrial Campus on a roughly 500 acre site along Greens Bottom Road east of Interstate 71 in Carroll County, with about 800 megawatts of planned utility load. The site includes 342 acres owned by the municipal utility Carrollton Utilities, near its regional wastewater treatment plant and the Kentucky River. Residents in Carrollton and nearby Ghent organized in opposition after learning the project had reportedly been in development for more than a year before its public announcement.
