The Chisago County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously in August 2026 to enact a 12 month interim zoning moratorium on data center development so staff could study zoning, permitting, and utility capacity questions before any project could proceed. County officials describe the pause as precautionary rather than a response to one specific pending application.
