CRG, Clayco's development arm, won Festus City Council approval for a 6 billion dollar data center on roughly 360 acres north of Highway 67, with a tax abatement package the city says could bring in 80 million dollars a year in combined tax revenue. After sustained opposition, the developer scaled the design back from twelve two story buildings to four one story buildings with larger setbacks from nearby homes. The controversy over transparency in the deal led Festus voters to oust every incumbent city council member up for reelection in April 2026.
