Crane Data Centers, a San Francisco based company, is eyeing a roughly 300 acre, three building, 300 megawatt data center site along US 52 across from the closed Walter C. Beckjord Generating Station in Pierce Township, Clermont County. At an October 6, 2026 zoning commission meeting that drew about 150 residents, officials said no formal application had been submitted and a township trustee described it as a sales pitch rather than a filed proposal. Pierce Township has a moratorium on new data center construction in place through May 31, 2027 while it writes township-wide data center zoning regulations.
