Aligned Data Centers wants to build up to three large data center buildings totaling almost 2 million square feet at the old Bruce Mansfield coal plant site along the Ohio River, land owned by the Frontier Group of Companies. Shippingport Borough Council approved a conditional use permit for the plan, but the project still needs grading, stormwater and other state permits before construction can begin. Some coverage describes an eventual buildout as large as several gigawatts, well beyond what has been approved so far.
