Developer Vincent de Monaco sought to convert the Delta Storage self storage facility on New Hook Road in Bayonne's Constable Hook industrial district into an AI data center, and the Planning Board and City Council advanced a zoning change allowing it in December 2025. Residents packed council meetings for months, and the fight became a central issue in Bayonne's May 2026 municipal election, which the anti data center slate led by Mayor Sharon Ashe Nadrowski swept. The new council voted 5-0 on August 12, 2026 to ban data centers citywide, making Bayonne the 32nd New Jersey municipality to do so and effectively killing the New Hook Road proposal.
