Monroe County, GA
Bolingbroke Technology Center
Local landowners (Newnam, Doss, Ingram). Denied.
A rezoning request to convert about 970 acres of residential land near Bolingbroke, along I-475 and Highway 41, into a nine-building data center campus was rejected. The Monroe County Planning and Zoning board voted 5 to 0 against it in late July 2025 and the county commission followed with a unanimous denial on August 5, 2025 after nearly 900 residents turned out in opposition over water, noise, light pollution and the town's rural character. Property owners later sued the county over the denial.
