"Rising Edge" Data Center Proposal (Mahomet)

Austin, Texas based Clean Cloud Energy approached the Village of Mahomet about a roughly 340 acre data center campus, called "Rising Edge" in draft agreements, on farmland in unincorporated Mahomet Township west of Champaign. The talks had been underway for months under non disclosure agreements and a draft deal capping the developer's financial contributions at 17.35 million dollars before the village went public with the approach on September 28, 2026. After resident questions and concerns, Mahomet officials announced on October 5, 2026 that they had ended discussions with Clean Cloud Energy and the project is no longer active.
