A Florida based real estate company has asked Dubuque about connecting a possible data center near the Dubuque Regional Airport to city water and sewer lines, but as of mid 2026 no company had filed a formal site plan, annexation request or development agreement. The project could need up to 3 million gallons of water just to fill its cooling system, plus about 250,000 gallons a year afterward. Over 200 residents turned out for a city input session in July 2026 as Dubuque and Dubuque County both work on new data center ordinances under a county moratorium.
