Chesapeake City Council unanimously denied a rezoning for a 350,000 square foot data center on 22.6 acres at Centerville Turnpike and Etheridge Manor Boulevard in June 2025, the city's first data center proposal. Chesapeake has since paused new data center applications for eight months while it rewrites its zoning rules.
