Fundamental Data has proposed a data center and off grid natural gas power plant, called the Ridgeline Facility, on land it describes as part of a complex of up to 10,000 acres between Tucker and Grant counties, about a mile from the tourist towns of Thomas and Davis. The company has applied for a state air permit, and its project is the type meant to use West Virginia's 2025 House Bill 2014 certified microgrid and data center law, which lets certified projects bypass most local zoning control. In mid-2026 the state Department of Commerce notified Fundamental Data it was in violation of HB 2014 for not filing its high impact data center certification application, and the state Department of Environmental Protection has separately questioned the company's control of the proposed site.
