Microsoft is building a six building data center campus of roughly 105 acres in Malaga, near Pangborn Memorial Airport, after Chelan County PUD commissioners approved a power contract in June 2025 that grew to as much as 298 megawatts of infrastructure capacity through 2030 under a 14 year term. Microsoft paid for an 86.5 million dollar substation, called Jumpoff Ridge, and related grid upgrades to serve the site, and the first building was expected to begin phased operations around August 2026 with up to 16 megawatts of mostly carbon free, surplus hydropower. The remaining buildings are still under development as the utility and Microsoft work out longer term power supply terms through 2040.
