Developers Jon Williams and John Yensan, who bought the former Tonawanda Coke property for a nominal 1 dollar at auction in 2019 and renamed it the Riverview Innovation and Technology Campus, are proposing a 300 megawatt, roughly 495,000 square foot AI data center on 140 acres of the 100 year old former coke plant site. The project could involve up to 2 billion dollars in investment, with potential groundbreaking in late 2026 and completion by the end of 2027, but the town supervisor said in June 2026 that the proposal is on hold while a public hearing and further planning work continue.
