Site Layer 1 (Granite Renewables gas-powered data center)

Site Layer 1 LLC. Filed

Site Layer 1 LLC, managed by Delaware-registered AirLayer Advisory LLC and presented locally by Granite Renewables founder Ian Marcus, is proposing a natural gas powered data center on private land about 4.5 miles northeast of Playas and 12 miles from Hachita, in the rural southern tip of Grant County, New Mexico. A legal notice published around October 1, 2026 said the project would file an air quality permit with the New Mexico Environment Department for a gas-fired generation facility that could burn about 2.3 million cubic feet of natural gas per hour. Grant County residents learned of the proposal mainly through that notice, and county commissioners responded by approving a notice of intent to consider a one-year moratorium on new data centers, while the state Environment Cabinet secretary separately criticized the developer for not engaging with the community.
