Posey County Data Center Proposal (Boberg-Hoenert Road)

Operator not disclosed. Denied

Posey County Commissioners voted in early August 2026 to reject a proposed data center near the intersection of Boberg and Hoenert roads after a June 2026 meeting packed with concerned residents, though the developer was never publicly named and had signed a non-disclosure agreement rather than filing a formal application. Commissioners said they were still considering data center proposals at other locations in the county, and by late September 2026 local reporting identified Amazon as a company in early discussions about developing elsewhere in Posey County, again without a filed application. The county's Area Plan Commission separately adopted a new countywide data center zoning ordinance on October 1-2, 2026 that now heads to the Board of Commissioners for final consideration.
