Dallas based DCIP Group wants to build a natural gas powered data center complex on the site of a decommissioned power plant in rural DeSoto County, with an ultimate footprint of about 1,315 acres and a potential draw of up to 4,000 megawatts generated on site rather than from the grid. DeSoto County commissioners approved rezoning an initial 34 acre parcel in March 2026, and the company's CEO has said he expects approval of the remaining roughly 1,200 acres in the third quarter of 2026. The company promises closed loop cooling and says it will not draw from the local power grid, but residents have raised concerns about water use, noise, and pollution.
