Lawrence based Alcove Development signed a three year predevelopment agreement with Osawatomie for what it calls Project Catalyst, a more than 1 billion dollar data center that has grown from an initial 115 acre, 600,000 square foot plan to a roughly 283 acre campus targeting more than 500 megawatts. The city agreed to abate 50 percent of property taxes for ten years and to issue industrial revenue bonds, but the project is not final, since it is up to Alcove to determine whether the land is suitable. The Miami County Commission has considered its own pause on data center construction in response.
