The proposal is one of two competing data center plans reported for Monticello and remains in early stages, requiring annexation, an environmental review, and city approval before it could move forward. Monticello has since adopted a new ordinance setting restrictions that open a path for data centers to be built under specific conditions.
Twin Cities construction firm Frattalone Companies, through an entity called Monticello Tech LLC, has proposed a separate data center project in Monticello, Wright County, alongside the competing Scannell Properties proposal nearby. Public details on size and capacity have not been published, and the project is still in early planning, requiring annexation, environmental review, and city approval. Monticello's council adopted new zoning restrictions in April 2026 that set conditions data center developers must meet before either project could be built.
