Data centers in Montgomery County

Google's Project Spade data center campus, developed by Related Digital, sits on about 780 acres in Montgomery County and 130 acres in the city of New Florence, at the Interstate 70 and Highway 19 interchange. The plan was amended from three buildings totaling about 1.08 million square feet to two buildings of roughly 800,000 square feet each, using closed loop, non evaporative air cooling. Google is investing 15 billion dollars in Missouri infrastructure overall and is working with Ameren to add 500 megawatts of new power capacity, on top of a gigawatt it has already contracted in the state.

Amazon Web Services is building Project Green, a second huge data center campus in Montgomery County near New Florence, in the northeast quadrant of the Interstate 70 and Highway 19 interchange, across the highway from Google's Project Spade. The roughly 1,000 acre, two phase campus could eventually include up to 21 buildings and as much as 35 billion dollars in investment. The Montgomery County Commission unanimously approved the project and an incentive package in early 2026, though local residents have filed a legal challenge over transparency and the project's projected 50 million gallons a year of water use.
