Edged is building a 187 million dollar, 13.2 megawatt data center on Ankeny's southeast side, near Southeast Four Mile Road just north of Interstate 80. The Ankeny City Council approved a development agreement with a tax increment financing incentive capped at 2 million dollars, and construction broke ground on May 6, 2025, with completion expected in 2027. The company says the facility will use closed loop, waterless cooling.

MidAmerican Energy is asking the commission for a 5.2% residential increase (MidAmerican Energy natural gas rate increase (docket RPU-2026-0001)). On a $58 monthly bill that is about $3 to $5 a month.
