Benton Township Data Center Proposal
Operator not disclosed. Rumored.
City and township officials in the Benton Harbor area have discussed a data center of up to 3 billion dollars on about 280 acres near Yore Avenue, and the city once considered selling it water to help close a budget gap. No company has been publicly named, and the project stalled in 2024 for lack of state tax incentives and community pushback. Since Michigan passed data center tax exemptions in December 2024, officials say developers may revisit the site, but nothing has been formally filed yet.
