Meta Richland Parish Data Center (Hyperion)
Meta. Under construction. 5000 MW.
Meta is building what it says will be its largest data center globally on the former Franklin Farm megasite, grown from a 10 billion dollar announcement to a 50 plus billion dollar, nearly 10 million square foot, 5 GW campus called Hyperion. Entergy Louisiana is building three gas plants and a 100 mile transmission line for it, approved 4 to 1 by the Public Service Commission amid controversy over ratepayer exposure.

What it would mean nearby
The cooling design has not been reported. If it uses evaporative cooling, a 5000 MW facility would draw roughly 15.9 million to 57.1 million gallons of water a day, about what 182,300 households use.
This case, still open as of August 2026, will help decide whether seven new gas plants built mainly for one company's data center get repaid entirely by that company or partly by everyday Entergy Louisiana customers. A commission decision was reportedly expected around December 2026, though that timeline was not confirmed by the commission itself. Watch for how the Louisiana Public Service Commission enforces cost sharing if Meta's actual power use ever falls short of what was promised, since that is what determines whether these plants ever show up on a typical household bill.
