T5 Data Centers' Chicago IV campus in Grayslake is approved for up to 472 acres and over 10 million square feet, drawing roughly 1.55 gigawatts from ComEd. The village issued its first building permit around September 1, 2026, allowing site work to begin on the initial 800,000 square foot building even as construction proceeds. Nine residents and the Preservation of Community Well-being Collective LLC sued the village, T5, and Alter Asset Management on July 31, 2026 seeking to void the project's approvals and block further permits, and an initial status hearing in that case is confirmed for 9 a.m. October 30, 2026 in Lake County Circuit Court.
