Compass Datacenters is redeveloping the former Sears corporate headquarters campus into five hyperscale data center buildings on 197 acres, a project the company says will total about 10 billion dollars over several years. Compass bought the site for 194 million dollars in September 2023 and demolition and site work have been underway since, with the first building expected to be powered by ComEd around mid-2026.
