A nearly 2,000 acre data center proposal near Highway 377 outside Granbury, first pitched to Hood County commissioners in July 2025 under the vague economic development code name Project Patriot with promises of 60 high wage jobs, is now the subject of a resident lawsuit against the City of Granbury alleging officials withheld details from the public. It is one of eight data center proposals reported across Hood County, where officials say state law leaves them little power to block the projects.
