An unnamed, reportedly multibillion dollar data center project is rumored for Sinton in San Patricio County, with sources describing potential water use above three million gallons a day against a city that currently uses under one million. AEP has acquired an adjacent 12 acre parcel for a substation and the groundwater district issued the city a drilling permit on the rezoned tract, but the operator has not been publicly confirmed and participants are believed to be under nondisclosure agreements.
