Data centers in Ingham County

UK based Deep Green wants to build a 24 megawatt data center on a small vacant lot on Kalamazoo Street in downtown Lansing's Stadium District and pipe its waste heat into the city owned Board of Water and Light's hot water system. Lansing's planning commission initially rejected a rezoning request but later reversed course and recommended approval 5 to 2, with a City Council vote still to come. Backers have said construction could start as soon as spring 2026 if approved.

Landowners in Vevay Township, next to the city of Mason, are seeking to annex about 400 acres near Columbia and College roads into Mason so a data center project of at least 500 million dollars can connect to city utilities. Vevay Township's board declined to negotiate a tax revenue sharing deal in June 2026, so the landowners are asking the state's Boundary Commission to approve annexation instead. The company that would actually build and run the data center has not been publicly identified.
