In Dakota County

Approved 708 MW Farmington

Land development firm Tract wants to build the Farmington Technology Park, a data center campus of up to twelve buildings and 2.5 million square feet, on 343 acres that were once the Fountain Valley Golf Course in Farmington, Dakota County. The city's planning commission has approved rezoning and a final plat for the site, but the project still needs the Metropolitan Council to sign off on a comprehensive plan amendment. Neighboring Castle Rock Township residents and one Farmington resident have sued to block the project, and the city council has granted the developer a one year extension while the litigation continues.

Filed MW not reported Rosemount

Meta's already operating 800 million dollar Rosemount data center at the former UMore Park site is expanding. Through its subsidiary Jimnist LLC, Meta paid about 70 million dollars in February 2025 for two additional land parcels near Blaine Avenue East and 145th Street, adjacent to its existing campus. The company has not published a public site plan for the new parcels, but the purchase is described as providing long term flexibility for future growth of the Rosemount facility beyond its original footprint.

Denied MW not reported Apple Valley

Oppidan and landowner Rockport LLC proposed a technology park of seven buildings, including five data centers, totaling about 1 million square feet, on 134 acres of former sand and gravel mining land at the southwest corner of County Road 42 and Pilot Knob Road in Apple Valley. The Apple Valley City Council rejected the comprehensive plan amendment the project needed in January 2026 and formally denied the proposal, citing conflicts with the city's comprehensive plan and its inability to fund the water treatment and storage expansion the project would have required.
