Black and Veatch subsidiary Diode Ventures is developing Gemstone Technology Park, a planned 620 acre, up to five building data center campus near the intersection of Locust Grove and Barker roads in Kuna, on farmland owned by former Kuna mayor Duane Yamamoto, with a potential 600 to 800 megawatts of load that would fall on Idaho Power. After hours of mixed public testimony, the Kuna City Council approved the rezoning from agricultural to light industrial in a 3 to 2 vote in April 2025, with the mayor casting the tie breaking vote. Diode Ventures has separately pledged payments to the Kuna School District, Kuna Police Department, and Kuna Rural Fire District as part of the deal.
