Google Data Center (Rumble Road)

Google. Filed.

Google purchased about 948.8 acres along Rumble Road near Interstate 75 outside Juliette in Monroe County for roughly 42.6 million dollars, with the land sale closing in September 2025. On September 8, 2026 the Monroe County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 to approve a financial framework under which Google would pay more than 1.2 billion dollars over the course of construction and a 20 year lease, structured through the county's Development Authority rather than standard property taxes. The vote set financial terms only; site plan and construction approvals are still pending and no megawatt figure has been disclosed.

What it would mean nearby

Oglethorpe Power, which generates most of the electricity Georgia's EMCs sell, is adding natural gas plants it ties to data center and industrial load. EMC rates are set by each cooperative's board, not the Public Service Commission, so watch your EMC's rate notices.
