Microsoft Woodward Data Center Campus
Microsoft. Rumored
Microsoft has purchased more than 600 acres in the Woodward Eco Business Park on the south side of Woodward, near Iowa Highway 141 and Seminole Avenue, in Dallas County; the purchase closed October 8, 2026, and much of the land was previously held by Foxconn for a manufacturing project that never fully materialized. Microsoft revealed the project at a residents-only meeting on October 12, 2026 that drew roughly 300 people and ended with a protester being removed by police; the company says the facility has not yet been designed and is at the earliest phase of planning, and the City Council must still approve a development agreement and site plan before anything proceeds. Microsoft says it will pay for its own infrastructure upgrades, including roads, water, sewer and electricity, and is not seeking local tax incentives.

What it would mean nearby
MidAmerican Energy is asking the commission for a 5.2% residential increase (MidAmerican Energy natural gas rate increase (docket RPU-2026-0001)). On a $58 monthly bill that is about $3 to $5 a month. This case does not set rates directly, but the new solar plant it approves will eventually be paid for through customer rates, and MidAmerican has said data center growth is a major reason it is needed.
