San Diego based Monarch Energy, which pivoted from green hydrogen to data center development in 2024, has signed purchase and sale agreements for more than 300 acres between 215th and 183rd streets west, off 53rd Street North, near Colwich and Andale in Sedgwick County. As of March 2026, the county had received no formal zoning application for the site. Sedgwick County imposed a moratorium on data center applications in January 2026 that has been extended twice while planners draft regulations, with a public hearing on the draft rules set for November 12, 2026.
