Atlas Development, LLC filed initial paperwork in January 2026 for a 350 acre, up to 12 building data center called Project Bus on rural land near Temple in northern Carroll County, valued at up to 11 billion dollars at full buildout. Following community opposition and a Carroll County Board of Commissioners statement against annexing the county land into Temple, the developer withdrew the proposal on August 4, 2026, though it retains the option to resubmit with changes or pursue another site in the region.
