Western Newspaper Union Data Center (Revitalization Unlimited, Quality Hill)

Revitalization Unlimited. On hold

Miami based Revitalization Unlimited wants to demolish the historic, 1900 built Western Newspaper Union building at 934 Central Street in downtown Kansas City's Quality Hill area and replace it with a 384 foot, 20 story data center. The Kansas City Plan Commission voted unanimously on August 5, 2026 to recommend the City Council deny the proposal, after nearly three hours of testimony and 475 letters of opposition with none in support, and Mayor Quinton Lucas has said he does not expect the council to reverse that recommendation. As of late September 2026 the council had pushed back its own vote on the project without a new date reported.
