Google's first Kansas City area data center campus, internally called Project Shale, sits in the Hunt Midwest Business Center on NE Parvin Road in Clay County, near Worlds of Fun, and is planned across four phases totaling about 1.435 million square feet. The project was expected to generate upwards of 1,000 construction jobs. Google has since begun a second, larger campus nearby, and together the two projects represent a roughly 1 billion dollar investment in the Kansas City area.
