Patmos applied for its building permit in June 2026, before the city later adopted a data center moratorium, so the project is proceeding under the city's prior rules, though the city does not yet have enough spare power capacity and would need to approve an infrastructure upgrade or let Patmos add onsite backup generation. The Independence City Council postponed a vote on assigning the property's leasehold interest to November 2, 2026, with the land deal expected to close November 12, 2026 pending that approval.
