Stream Data Centers bought and demolished 55 homes in a 34 acre Elk Grove Village subdivision to make way for a more than 2 million square foot data center campus. ComEd broke ground on a dedicated 260 megawatt substation to serve the site, expected to be ready in 2027, and construction on the campus itself was anticipated to begin in late 2025 or early 2026. In August 2025 Apollo managed funds agreed to acquire a majority stake in Stream Data Centers.

The cooling design has not been reported. If it uses evaporative cooling, a 260 MW facility would draw roughly 824,000 to 3.0 million gallons of water a day, about what 9,500 households use.
