Stack Infrastructure agreed to buy nearly 3,000 acres at the Berry Hill Megasite for about 720 million dollars, with Danville and Pittsylvania County leaders touting a 73 billion dollar, 30-year build-out and about 2,050 direct jobs. The megasite was moved into Appalachian Power's service territory to support the load. A construction start date has not been set.
Pittsylvania County's board approved a rezoning of 946 acres off Route 58 East in Ringgold for a data center campus with an initial 200 megawatts of capacity, with potential for significant future expansion and an estimated investment up to 5 billion dollars.

2026 biennial base rate review (docket PUR-2026-00044) is pending; Appalachian Power says it would add about $8 to $10 to a typical monthly bill. 2024 biennial review (docket PUR-2024-00024) adds about $4.36 a month to a typical bill from March 2026.
Appalachian Power's next base rate case asks for about 61.4 million dollars a year, roughly 9.10 dollars a month net for a 1,000 kWh household after securitization credits, with new rates no earlier than March 2027. The commission hearing is set for October 20, 2026.
