Vantage Data Centers, working from land assembled by Cloverleaf Infrastructure, broke ground in December 2025 on a data center campus on the north side of Port Washington that could grow to as much as 1,900 acres and around 3.5 gigawatts of power, potentially the largest single electricity user in Wisconsin. The project is linked to OpenAI and Oracle's Stargate initiative. In August 2026, 66 percent of Port Washington voters approved a ballot measure requiring voter approval before the city can grant future tax incentives over 10 million dollars to developers.

Most of the county is served by We Energies.
We Energies is asking the commission for a 9.3% residential increase (We Energies general electric and gas rate case for 2027 and 2028 (docket 5-UR-112)). On a $160 monthly bill that is about $13 to $17 a month. This tariff does not change home electric rates by itself, but it is meant to make large new data centers pay the full cost of the power plants and lines built to serve them instead of spreading those costs across everyone's bill. Transmission upgrades like this are typically billed to every electric customer in the state through transmission charges, not just to the data center that made the new line necessary, which is why the cost allocation question matters for ordinary bills even outside the four counties involved.
We Energies' docket 5-UR-112 seeks roughly a 16 percent rate increase totaling 480 million dollars over two years, raising the average residential bill about 10.28 percent in 2027 and 5.52 percent in 2028. Its public hearing was held September 1, 2026 in Milwaukee, where residents objected, and public comments are due by September 18, 2026, with a Public Service Commission decision expected later in the fall. A separate September 29 hearing and October 5 comment deadline in Green Bay belong to a related but distinct Wisconsin Public Service Corporation rate case, not this We Energies docket.
