Panattoni Development Co. purchased a 100 acre property near Faircrest Street SW and Kropf Avenue SW in Perry Township for a proposed 240 megawatt hyperscale data center, expected to be the largest taxpayer in Stark County. The Stark County Regional Planning Commission has approved the project and it is moving ahead, generating an estimated 670 construction jobs.
Microsoft confirmed it is the company behind a proposed data center campus on up to 350 acres along state Route 75 between Breese and Hume roads in Perry Township.
The City of Canton has received early plans for proposed data centers on Millerton Street SE and Orchardview Drive SE, described by officials as still in the planning stages with the developers undisclosed. Canton City Council separately approved new citywide data center zoning regulations in an 8 to 3 vote after a packed, contentious public hearing where some residents were turned away for lack of room.
