Residents in the area say they only recently discovered the proposal, and the city, which currently has no specific zoning rules for data centers, has not yet held a public hearing on the rezoning. Brighton's city council was scheduled to consider a 90 day moratorium on new data center applications on October 6, 2026, while officials study water demand and other impacts.
