Data centers in Gloucester County

Marketing materials from Stalwart Development and engineer Integrated Energy Concepts describe Earth Station-76 as a 560,000 square foot, build to suit data center along the Route 130 corridor in Logan Township, scalable from 5 to more than 200 megawatts using onsite cogeneration with carbon capture. Rumors of the project prompted significant local concern, but Logan Township's mayor has said the facility was never formally proposed to the township, and Logan went on to ban data centers in 2026 regardless. No site plan or permit application appears to have been filed.

American Tower Corporation proposed a small, 15,895 square foot, 4 megawatt edge data center on wooded land at its existing cell tower site on Mantua Road in the Mount Royal section of East Greenwich Township. The plan drew a petition with more than 5,800 signatures and formal opposition from the New Jersey Sierra Club, and American Tower withdrew the application on June 9, 2026, canceling the scheduled hearing. East Greenwich Township then adopted its own ordinance banning future data center development in response to the fight.

Hexa Builders won preliminary site plan approval in January 2026 for two warehouses totaling 1.6 million square feet on farmland along Black Horse Pike in Williamstown, which neighbors warned could later be converted to a roughly 1 million square foot AI data center. As opposition grew, Monroe Township's council passed ordinances in April 2026 removing data centers as a permitted use on the site and banning them townshipwide, then formally denied Hexa's data center and warehouse application. Hexa sued Monroe Township for more than 300 million dollars in New Jersey Superior Court on June 5, 2026, and the case was later moved to federal court in Camden.
