Centra Reno Data Center (RNO2 / Keystone)

Centra. Under construction. 12 MW.

Centra's data center at 265 Keystone Avenue in Reno, known during permitting as the Keystone Data Center, is a 3.26-acre, two-story, roughly 91,200 square foot building that won a conditional use permit on January 15, 2025 over objections from more than 20 nearby residents about noise, power and water strain. Centra has since broken ground on the project as its second Reno-area facility, next to an existing data center built in 1999.

What it would mean nearby

The cooling design has not been reported. If it uses evaporative cooling, a 12 MW facility would draw roughly 38,000 to 137,000 gallons of water a day, about what 400 households use.

2026 fuel cost filings is pending; NV Energy says it would take about $4 to $6 off a typical monthly bill. Nothing here changes a bill today. What matters is whether the large load contract survives intact; if it is weakened, the cost of plants built for data centers starts showing up in the next general rate cases around 2027 and 2028. Sierra Pacific 2024 general rate case (docket 24-02026) adds about $2.00 a month to a typical bill from October 2024.
