Fleet Data Centers, backed by a 4.6 billion dollar senior secured notes deal, broke ground on two adjacent campuses (South Valley and Peru Ridge/Peru Shelf) within Tract's Tahoe Reno Industrial Center land position in Storey County, targeting a combined 230 megawatts of critical compute power in an initial phase. Tract controls well over 1,000 additional acres nearby for further expansion.

Switch's Citadel Campus at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center opened its first 1.3 million square foot, 130 megawatt building (Tahoe Reno 1) in February 2017 and has continued expanding since. Reported figures for the full build-out vary by source, from 650 megawatts up to 2 gigawatts across as much as 7.2 million square feet; a further expansion phase of roughly 350 megawatts is tracked as underway as of 2026.
Google's Storey County data center at 7400 USA Parkway in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center has been operating since 2021, part of more than 600 million dollars Google has committed to the site, and now draws partly on geothermal power. The facility received a 20-year, 2 percent sales tax abatement worth about 16.8 million dollars and a 20-year, 75 percent personal property tax abatement worth about 8.25 million dollars as state economic development incentives.
Novva Data Centers launched its 300,000 square foot, 60 megawatt Tahoe Reno data center on a 20-acre campus in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in July 2025, its fourth completed facility nationally. What matters is whether the large load contract survives intact; if it is weakened, the cost of plants built for data centers starts showing up in the next general rate cases around 2027 and 2028. Sierra Pacific 2024 general rate case (docket 24-02026) adds about $2.00 a month to a typical bill from October 2024.
NV Energy asked regulators to lower southern Nevada electric bills about 5.01 dollars a month from October 2026, citing falling fuel and wholesale power costs. In northern Nevada it asked to cut electric bills about 1.86 dollars a month while raising gas about a dollar.
