Data centers in Storey County

Vantage Data Centers is building a 224 megawatt, four-building campus (NV1) on nearly 137 acres at Electric Avenue and USA Parkway in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, part of a roughly 3 billion dollar investment. The first of four buildings, NV11, was on track to open in the second quarter of 2026, with more than one million square feet planned across the full campus.

Fleet Data Centers, backed by a 4.6 billion dollar senior secured notes deal, broke ground on two adjacent campuses (South Valley and Peru Ridge/Peru Shelf) within Tract's Tahoe Reno Industrial Center land position in Storey County, targeting a combined 230 megawatts of critical compute power in an initial phase. Tract controls well over 1,000 additional acres nearby for further expansion. In September 2026 Fleet won conditional approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to build two private natural gas power plants as bridge power for the campuses, a 144 megawatt South Valley Energy Generation Facility and a 218 megawatt Peru Ridge Self-Generation Project, meant to run 2 to 3 years until NV Energy can serve the site directly; the approval still needs sign-off from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection and Storey County.

Amazon Data Services is building a data center campus at 3800 Peru Drive in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, developed with Switch, Gray Construction, and Whiting-Turner. Local hiring was underway by March 2026 and Sierra Pacific Power, a NV Energy subsidiary, opened a Public Utilities Commission docket in May 2026 seeking approval of a large-load electric service agreement to serve the facility. Amazon separately announced 700 megawatts of new carbon-free capacity for its Nevada data center growth, including geothermal, solar, and battery storage, and the facility is designed to use direct air cooling most of the year with water-based cooling during hot periods.

Switch's Citadel Campus at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center opened its first 1.3 million square foot, 130 megawatt building (Tahoe Reno 1) in February 2017 and has continued expanding since. Reported figures for the full build-out vary by source, from 650 megawatts up to 2 gigawatts across as much as 7.2 million square feet; a further expansion phase of roughly 350 megawatts is tracked as underway as of 2026.

Google's Storey County data center at 7400 USA Parkway in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center has been operating since 2021, part of more than 600 million dollars Google has committed to the site, and now draws partly on geothermal power. The facility received a 20-year, 2 percent sales tax abatement worth about 16.8 million dollars and a 20-year, 75 percent personal property tax abatement worth about 8.25 million dollars as state economic development incentives.

Novva Data Centers launched its 300,000 square foot, 60 megawatt Tahoe Reno data center on a 20-acre campus in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in July 2025, its fourth completed facility nationally. The building includes six 10 megawatt data halls, water-free cooling, and a dedicated 100 megawatt substation from NV Energy.
