Switch's second Georgia hyperscale campus, a $772 million, 126 acre development in Cartersville on the former Carter Grove site, which the city rezoned to a Technology District. The first data center building, about 1,620 feet long, came online in the second quarter of 2026, with two more buildings under construction as part of a master plan that could extend through 2046. It is projected to generate roughly 15 million dollars a year in local tax revenue once built out.

Taurus Investment Holdings is developing the site, which will be operated by Digital Realty, with a reported power capacity around 1,830 megawatts across three on-site substations. A 75 acre rezoning from agricultural to business park district near White in Bartow County, next to a planned 40 acre Georgia Power substation, approved by Bartow County on June 4, 2025 alongside Project Bunkhouse. The applicant was represented by Cartersville attorney Lester Tate and the rezoning was finalized to complete a property sale. Public reporting does not specify the operator, building size, or power capacity.
The Bartow County Planning Commission held its rescheduled hearing on the Brown Farm Road rezoning on August 24, 2026, and unanimously recommended against the project according to local reporting. Under Bartow's sole commissioner government, a final decision by Commissioner Steve Taylor is still required and no confirmed date for that vote has been reported. The commission's recommendation is advisory only, so this entry keeps its filed status until a final county decision is confirmed.
A data center complex proposed for 209 Industrial Park Road off U.S. 411 in Bartow County, behind an Americold Logistics facility, on 68 acres with a reported buildout of about 1 million square feet and a very large reported power draw of up to 2,000 megawatts. A Development of Regional Impact application has been filed with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and county officials have expressed support while also finishing a new data center permitting ordinance.
Thor Acquisition, an affiliate of New York based Thor Equities, filed a Development of Regional Impact application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs on September 4, 2026 for a data center project near Kingston in Bartow County, off Highway 411 near the Hyundai-SK battery plant. The filing describes roughly 559 acres, a 350,000 square foot building, about 150 megawatts of capacity, and an estimated 1 billion dollars in investment, with the developer saying it intends to pursue power supply through a regional utility RFP process. The project still needs rezoning and other local approvals, and no hearing date has been set.
A proposed $4.5 billion, six building data center campus (about 379,000 square feet and roughly 72 megawatts per building) on 630 acres off Barnsley Gardens Road near the Barnsley Resort, close to Adairsville. Barnsley Resort's owners and more than 2,000 petition signers opposed the project, and the Bartow County Planning Commission voted 6-1 to recommend denial in April 2025. Applicant Atlas Development withdrew the rezoning application on May 13, 2025 rather than face a denial vote, and under county rules cannot resubmit an identical application for six months.

Base rate freeze through 2028 (docket 44280) holds base rates flat from July 2025. Fuel and storm riders are separate and can still move. Real-time pricing revenue credit and cost allocation review (docket 57171) is pending before the commission without a published residential figure yet. 2026 fuel and storm cost settlement (docket 44280, 56765) takes about $4.04 a month off a typical bill from June 2026.
Georgia Power and the Georgia PSC Public Interest Advocacy Staff reached a stipulated agreement extending the alternate rate plan first approved in the 2022 rate case, keeping Georgia Power base electricity rates flat through at least 2028. The Georgia Public Service Commission approved the stipulation by vote on July 1, 2025, with a formal order issued July 31, 2025. The freeze applies only to base rates and does not limit separate fuel cost recovery or storm cost recovery charges, both of which can still change a residential bill during the freeze period. Georgia Power has said growth in large load customers such as data centers helped make the freeze possible by spreading fixed costs across a larger customer base.
