Red Wolf DCD Properties wants to build a 12.6 billion dollar data center, described as part of the internet's backbone, on a 550 acre business park bisected by Parallel Parkway in Wyandotte County, with six buildings totaling 1.8 million square feet. The Unified Government's planning commission recommended the rezoning 4 to 2 in May 2025, and officials said the project could become the county's largest source of property tax revenue. A resident protest petition and a lawsuit from an environmental group have since delayed final approval.
Most of the county is served by Board of Public Utilities.
